Places to Stay
Moloa'a Bay Pole House
Located on the northeast shore of Kauai is Moloa'a Bay, a secluded
little, private bay that boasts true island living. The Moloa'a
Bay Pole House is not in a resort community. Rather the house is
surrounded by other houses inhabited by locals. This romantic and
peaceful beach house offers an amazing ocean view from the wraparound
Lanai and all the "getting away from it all" that you could possibly
hope for in a vacation house rental.

Halekulani
The best amenities such as: Kohler Deep Soaking Tub, Flat Screen TV,
Separte shower, DVD/CD entertainment center. Not the most
affordable on the island, but at the rates you could pay elsewhere, you
really should consider the Halekulani - or end up regretting that you
only ATE at the Halekulani like our FunLA staff travel authority!

The upstairs room overlooks the ocean. Clearly the best room in the
place. You get a private beach, steps away from your door.
You're close to "downtown" Paia, which is really cute and healthy-folk
oriented. The house is close to the road that takes you to the
other side of the island, so you can go hotel slumming.

Kona
Na Hale O Keauhou Condo
Very reasonable rates. Keauhou
Keauhou is away from the noise and traffic of Alii Drive. Two fine
places for lodging are Kanaloa, which offers a golf course, and the Kona
Coast Resort. Both are spacious and fairly-priced.
Kailua-Kona
If you want to be a little free-spirited and touristy meaning
you want to walk around, shop, dine, and sit and look at the ocean,
but not necessarily go swimming in it go for the condos in Kailua-Kona.
You won't want to swim there due to the lava rock ocean front,
excepting White Sands (very rough waves) and Kahaluu Beach
(kid-friendly). Resorts and condos here will usually have
pools. Also, a little more 'civilized' meaning you'll find stores
you recognize for grocery shopping and dry goods. All
beachfront property in Kailua-Kona is public, meaning no one can
block your access to use the beach, even in front of their house.
If you want to roll out of bed and head to the beach and swim, go
for Mauna Lani and Hapuna where its sandier and less rocky. Hapuna
is a state park, so you can also stay in Waikoloa condos and go to
Hapuna.
Kahaluu Beach
Kahaluu Beach is packed, touristy, but offers good snorkeling and
lots of sea turtle sightings. They say the menehunes (leprechauns)
built the seawall that surrounds this beach for King Kamehameha.
It's great for kids because of the seawall.
Honaunau
Honaunau, which is Kona coffee country and is south of Kailua-Kona
is a nice area for condo-type rentals and B&B's.

Bora Bora Top
Bora Bora
On
Bora Bora there is not much to do outside the hotel compound area and
the beach.
Pearl Beach Resort
Located on Motu Tevairoa facing the island of
Bora Bora, this resort offers a place to luxuriate in the peace and
tranquility of the magical surroundings with unsurpassed views on the
world renowned Mount Otemanu. Ask about the over water bungalows and the
private garden pool suites featuring a private plunge pool and outdoor
shower.
Moorea Island
Moorea Island is close to the main Island of Papeete (like Catalina to
Los Angeles) and they have a regular Ferry all day. You can go to the
main island to look around after seeing all of Moorea. There are a few
places to hike and explore and some very beautiful sites. Also, you
avoid being flown into Papeete and then flown on to Bora Bora. You will
see more of the locals on Moorea. The water is great on both locations,
but overall your costs will be less with a Moorea vacation over Bora
Bora.
