From Heathrow, fly into Dublin; 2-3 days in Dublin.
Good shopping there.
It's a 5-6 train ride to the other side of the
country. You can take a 3 hour train ride 1/2 way across the
countryside, stay 1 night in a country in somewhere. Then its 3 more
hour train ride on to Galway.
Galway is considered a musician's "Mecca" for Irish
music - they travel from all over the world to study and play there.
Spend a few days there, then grab a bus ride to Shannon (the other city
with an international airport).
Stay at a beautiful suite hotel there, big room with
Jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Back to Heathrow from your wonderful week
long trip to Ireland.
